Our Philosophy of Integrative Healthcare

As the mindset shifts from a healthcare system that emphasizes disease management to one that emphasizes health promotion, there is greater and greater focus on the cause of disease and how to optimize health.

You might have heard of ‘holistic medicine’ which began in the United States back in the 1960’s and 70’s and referred to healthcare that focused on the whole person and not just one part of the body. ‘Holistic medicine’ then evolved into what was referred to as ‘alternative medicine’ and then into ‘complementary medicine’ as it was recognized that the ideal was to combine and unify these conventional and alternative concepts rather than having people choose between one or the other.

That is why we now have the emergence of the concept of ‘integrative medicine’ or ‘integrative healthcare’ which acknowledges that the best healthcare utilized elements from many traditions, systems and mindsets. Within the context of ‘integrative healthcare, we also have the additional integration of mind and body in ‘mind body medicine’ and ‘energy medicine’ as well as the emergence of ‘functional medicine’ which looks deeply at the functional disorders which are the root causes of chronic disease.

Another highly significant integration in healthcare is that occurring between clinical medicine and community health which addresses not only the importance of optimizing the health of the individual person, but the larger social context in which individuals live.

Advanced Wellness Partners is committed to providing the highest possible quality of ‘integrative healthcare’ and invite you to learn more about our services and resources available to through our team.
