The body Is designed to heal and balance itself, every second and every breath the body is replacing cells and striving to find a balance where growth and repair can happen naturally. We have 2 primary modes of operation in our nervous system: Sympathetic or response and reaction and Parasympathetic or growth and healing, it is necessary to move between both of these branches to assure our body can function properly. Stress pushes our body into Sympathetic nerve supply which mean our body takes all its resources from growth and healing  to facilitate reactions. When we are in sympathetic nerve supply our pupils dilate, glucose from our liver is released into the muscles so they can respond and react, digestion slows or ceases, breath becomes shallow, stress hormones are released, the brain armors itself and the heart beats faster. When we are exposed to stress on a consistent basis our bodies get stuck in this fight or flight response system and the activity of healing is diminished creating the framework for many disease processes. Look at this following chart compiled by Mental Health of America of all the disease process that are caused by prolonged periods of fight or flight!

Makes you think twice about how you manage stress doesn’t it?!! So here is the good news having a stress reduction program can help you counteract all these disorders and help you to avoid the over use of medications. So what can we do to start???

Sleep: Proper, restful, regular and uninterrupted sleep is a key to giving your body the time it needs to recuperate and re-energize itself so you can heal and balance your body.

Diet: A healthy real food based diet that cuts out all processed food and cuts back on sugar is crucial for your body to have the right nutrients for the cellular building blocks of healing necessary for healthy aging and growth. Avoiding boxed, bagged, and pre-made foods as much as possible and eating organically as much as possible especially meat and dairy products.

Water: Clean and pure water to assure proper hydration of your bodies tissues is vital to the health of your body and to flush out waste products that can create more stress on the body. Water is necessary for all electrical actions in the body and an important factor in delivering nutrients to our bodies.

Breath: Clean air and the proper ability to breath in air to the entire body is crucial to support the communication needs of the nervous system. Oxygen is a vital part of our bodies metabolic process. Oxygen or breath carries our vital energy though our body creating awareness.
